Hello Sir, Thank you for the insightful session, and I truly appreciate your efforts. I am currently working on validating APIs in my project, which are purely microservices-based. In these microservices, we receive data from external sources, process it, and then send it to other systems. At the moment, I am manually testing these API endpoints and documenting the tests as well. However, I’ve run into a challenge. I have encountered endpoints with very large payloads, and now I am confused about how to properly test all the possible combinations. With simpler payloads, I was able to test all the different scenarios-both positive (business logic) and negative cases. For example, with the simpler payloads, I did the following: I checked for expected behavior, like receiving a 200 status code when everything is correct. I tested invalid inputs, like providing incorrect IDs or missing data. I performed various validations, such as: Leaving mandatory fields empty. Providing null values or completely omitting certain mandatory fields. Entering junk data, like putting a string in an integer field (e.g., adding "abc" to the "age" field) or inserting text in a float field (e.g., adding a string to the "price" field). By doing this, I was able to create 30-40 test cases for a simple payload and document all of them properly. However, now I am faced with a much larger payload that contains many nested parent-child elements, and numerous fields are a mix of mandatory and optional. Given the complexity, if I try to apply the same detailed testing approach I used for the smaller payload, I end up with thousands of potential combinations to test. This is where I am stuck-I'm unsure whether I should test all of these combinations. If I were to do that, it could take weeks to complete just one API, and documenting all the test cases would be an even more time-consuming task. For a single API, I could end up with hundreds of test cases, and if this is multiplied across multiple APIs, the number of test cases would explode. I’ve attached a sample payload for your reference. Could you please provide guidance on the best strategy to handle this scenario? Additionally, could you share some advice on how to efficiently document the tests that I execute? In our project, it’s essential to document all the test cases thoroughly, and I want to ensure I'm handling both testing and documentation effectively without being overwhelmed.
